I have been thinking lately about life. That may be a bit dramatic and cliche, but it is a true statement. I have been thinking about life’s different metaphors and how they shape our view of living each day.
“Life’s a roller coaster.”
“Life’s a winding path.”
“Life is like a box of chocolates.”
My personal favorite is the latter. You truly never know what will happen next week, tomorrow, or even in 5 minutes. It is the greatest version of improvisation ever made. Actions lead to more actions that lead to other actions. Which is why I try to live as much in the present moment, instead of worrying about yesterday or tomorrow.
More importantly, I have learned to become critical of myself. And in doing so I have discovered I have been slacking in improving my life and how I live it. I have been sloth-like, never challenging myself. And it has created me into an unmotivated cog in the wheels of life. So not to sound like another cliche (“new year, new me”), but it was time for a wake-up call. To redefine my life, challenge myself, and formulate a new outlook on life.
So to help inspire me (and others) I wrote this haiku. Please enjoy it. And I will continue to share my world through my work.
Remember, to live and enjoy life.
